Mozilla Foundation's Incubator helps technologists bridge the "valley of death" between prototyping and sustainability. We build community around promising ideas—finding the right users, contributors, mentors, and funders to sustain work without compromising values. We call this "product-community fit."

We're currently seeking applications for our Democracy x AI Incubator Cohort.

We're looking for projects that strengthen democratic practice by enabling better information access, building institutional transparency and accountability, or protecting and expanding civic space.

We welcome technologists building working technologies with demonstrated traction—that have moved beyond prototype to something people are using, even if your community is still small.

We anticipate funding up to 10 projects at $50,000 each for 12 months.

Submit your Project Proposal below by March 16, 2026 at 11:59 PT (March 17, 2026 at 6:59am UTC). You can find the full Call for Proposals here.

AI and Translation Tools
We recognize that applicants may use tools such as AI to help brainstorm ideas, clarify language, or assist with translation. These tools can support the application process, especially for non-native English speakers or those seeking to improve clarity.

However, all submitted content must ultimately reflect your own original work, ideas, and voice. The use of AI or translation tools should be limited to supportive functions — not to generate full responses or replace your personal input. Applications that appear to be heavily or entirely AI-generated, or that do not demonstrate authentic, individual engagement with the application questions, may be subject to further review.
