Small Models. Intentional Systems. Tailored Solutions.

Mozilla Foundation believes better technology futures are possible — and we’re backing the people building them.

The Mozilla Foundation Incubator backs ambitious builders creating alternatives to today’s dominant technologies. We invest significant, non-dilutive funding in their work and give them access to a cohort of exceptional peers, expert coaching, and Mozilla’s global network. The goal is to give  these alternatives the runway to grow, endure, and reshape the technology landscape for the better.

For our next Incubator cohort, Mozilla Foundation is seeking seven projects that put the principles of Human-Scale AI into practice.

We're looking for working technologies already deployed with the people they’re designed to serve, even at a small scale or through an early pilot. Projects should show early evidence of product-community fit, while still having significant technical, product, community, deployment, or sustainability work ahead. You can find the full CFP here.

To apply, submit your project proposal below by Friday, November 20, 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time (UTC-8).

Project Overview

You don't need all of these. We're looking for early evidence that people value what you're building and want to be part of where it goes next. We'll ask you to share more about this in the next section of the form.

This helps us understand your project's context. All projects are welcome to apply and considered for funding regardless of your answer.

Some examples of frontier models are the following model families: GPT, Claude, Gemini/DeepMind, Llama.

We'll ask you to share more about this in the next sections of the form.

Thank you for telling us about your work.

Based on your answers, your project falls outside the focus of this particular call for proposals. Each Incubator cohort has its own theme, and a future call may be a better match for your work.

We would still love for you to submit the information you’ve filled in so far. When you submit, you can opt in to our newsletter to hear about future Incubator calls and other funding opportunities as soon as they open. Your submission also helps shape what comes next, because we use what we learn across the field to set themes for future cohorts and other Mozilla Foundation programs.

If you'd like to share this information with us, select "Next Page" below to complete the disclosures and acknowledgements pages. It will take about 30 seconds. If you'd rather not submit, you can simply close this page.

Using clear, simple language and a minimal amount of technical jargon in this description can help your project stand out.

We recognize that applicants may use tools such as AI to help brainstorm ideas, clarify language, or assist with translation. These tools can support the application process, especially for non-native English speakers or those seeking to improve clarity.

However, all submitted content must ultimately reflect your own original work, ideas, and voice. The use of AI or translation tools should be limited to supportive functions, not to generate full responses or replace your personal input. Applications that appear to be heavily or entirely AI-generated, or that do not demonstrate authentic engagement with the application questions, may be subject to further review.
